Meet Team TAPBPR.
Ricky Sinharay, MBBS, MRCP
I qualified as a medical doctor in 2009 from University College London with an intercalated BSc in Medical Humanities. Whilst undergoing postgraduate speciality training in gastroenterology, hepatology and liver transplantation in Cambridge (Addenbrooke’s Hospital) and Oxford (John Radcliffe Hospital), I have developed a keen interest in viral hepatitis, specifically hepatitis B (HBV), liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) and liver immunology.
In 2018 I joined the Boyle lab as an Addenbrooke’s Hospital Hepatology Research Fellow. Here, my work focuses on using a mass spectrometry approach (immunopeptidomics) with our collaborators at the Walz lab, to discover novel HBV peptides presented on MHC class I with the ultimate aim of informing therapeutic vaccine design to achieve ‘functional cure’ and reduce the risk of patients developing liver cancer.
In my spare time I am a keen footballer, oil painter and enjoying hiking with my dog.
