Ida Hafstrand, PhD
Ida studied at Linköping University in her native Sweden, where she obtained a double master’s degree in Protein Science and Technology (M.Sc.), and Chemical Biology (M.Sc.Eng.- Swedish “civilingenjör”). She joined Prof Adnane Achour’s group at the Science for Life laboratory (Karolinska institute, Stockholm, Sweden) as a PhD student in 2014. In 2017 she spent 6 months as an exchange student in Dr Adil Doganay Duru’s lab at the Cell Therapy Institute (CTI) at Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale – Davie, Florida, USA). In May 2018, she successfully defended her thesis titled “Structural bases for MHC class I peptide selection and neoepitope formation”.
Following on her passion for the MHC-I peptide processing pathway, she joined the Boyle lab in July 2018 working on a project funded by the CRUK Cancer Immunology award, in close collaboration with Dr Maike de la Roche at CRUK Cambridge Institute.
Ida started a new position as Senior Process Development Scientist at Advent Bioservices in September 2023.
